Classy Southern Texan

Today I am linking up with Andrea and sharing my home for Show and Tell Tuesday..Christmas home tour.

Currently we have a small tree that we put up in our guest room. I love coming home and seeing it as I pull into my driveway. I decorate the small tree with my Radio ornaments I have been collecting for years and my Waterford ornaments from my childhood. My grandmother (my Mom's mother) gave me Waterford ornaments when I was a little girl. I have one that says babies first Christmas and one for each of the following years and they have the 12 days of Christmas. They are glass so they really add a beautiful element to my Christmas tree.

New Radko ornament this year

I love to decorate in my kitchen and love a mixture of things. I have a Ventri Old Saint Nick table runner, Spode Christmas tree plates and the trees are from Pottery Barn a couple of years ago.

Since we don't have a big tree in our living room I like to make sure my mantel has something on it so I at least get to see twinkle lights in there. I had my mantel piece made about 3 years ago and the bow on it and my tree match. :-) I had a garland from Front Gate that was pre-lit and then I had someone add the ornaments and details for me.

My husband and I both love skiing and VAIL, CO so outside on my front doors I went with a more woodsy theme. My wreaths were also made by the same lady who made my mantel piece and bow for my tree. The wreaths are also pre-lit from Front Gate. If you have been looking for pre-lit wreaths or garland I highly recommend Front Gate. I have had both the garland and the wreaths for 8 years and the lights still work!! I did put the lights on my wreaths on a timer so that they don't run all day.

What is your favorite decoration in your house? How many trees do you decorate? What holiday tradition do you enjoy the most?

It truly has been an amazing, fun weekend!!!

Friday, I worked at the gym and did date night with my husband. It has been a stressful week work wise for him so it was nice to relax and enjoy each other's company for a few hours.

Saturday, I got up early and worked and taught at the gym. It was raining and about 9:45 ooohhh goodness the rain started coming in the building. We have a black foam mat at the gym and we had to pull it up and use a shop vacuum to clean up all the water. It was a little stressful but I am glad we were able to fix the situation quickly and the maintenance team did their part.

About noon I got on the road to Houston. My best friend from SFA had her first annual cookie exchange party. This is a party we have been talking about since this summer. She had about 10 girlfriends over from work and everyone brought three dozen cookies and canned goods to donate to the local food pantry.

She also had yummy chicken noodle, tomato basil and broccoli and cheese soup from Panera Bread. It was nice to just have a girls evening and meet her friends she teaches with.

The toppings for the yummy soups!!!

Cookies...cookies...cookies

More cookies!

Time to vote!! Jana won!!! They were all so yummy it was hard to choose.

Girls Night Out!!!
Whew...what a fun weekend! I got back on the road home about 8 and have been cooking meals for the week and watching Gilmore Girls and This is Us.

Like most of you I have finally had the Stars Hollow bug bite and have been binge watching Gilmore Girls. I am loving the Year in a Life episodes and just finished Winter. I loved watching this show in high school and am excited to see these 4 episodes. I was watching GMA this morning while Lorelai was talking about the new episodes. :-) It just makes my heart happy when a good show is on.

Speaking of good shows on TV I am loving This is Us!!!

I have been busy putting on Christmas decorations and watching Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel! What is your favorite Christmas movie?

Stella and Dot had an amazing sale this past week and today released some new arrivals...I am in LOVE with this navy tassel necklace and ordered it plus the matching earrings!!

I can hardly believe tomorrow is the last day of NOVEMBER!! We close on our lot...and are making some decisions on where we will be living in the future. More to come on that later. :-)

I can't wait to open my Advent calendar and start enjoying some yummy chocolate each day .

I truly should have been a Disney character and I would have chosen to be Belle!!! I loved this movie growing up and have always loved the smell of a fresh new book.

I haven't truly been reading that much lately, but I did read 2 books this month that were very good that I wanted to share!!!

I read Chip and JoJo's book The Magnolia Story. I loved that is was told from both of their points of view. It was very interesting to learn all about Magnolia Homes and her store and their rough beginnings. I went to Baylor before Fixer Upper was aired and now I look back and think wow they owned those apartments or WOW look at how they truly have changed Waco. I love how genuine and down to earth they truly are and this showed throughout their story.

I also read Nicholas Spark's new book Two by Two. I have read the majority of Sparks books and always LOVE them. Without giving too much away I will say I cried at the end of this story.

I am hoping to read a lot more in December, but also know this book will be at the top of my list. I decided this weekend I am going to take the GRE and start thinking more about getting my masters degree!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

It is hard to believe that it is already Thanksgiving. This year has simply flown by and I am thankful today to spend time with family and friends.
I have so very much to be thankful for this year. I am thankful for my husband, my parents and inlaws, my grandparents and extended family who I will get to spend the day with today. I am also thankful for my job and the family that trust me to watch their little girl daily. I am thankful for my Sleek Physique family and the people I get to teach Pound to. I am thankful for a warm home and roof over my head, a wonderful meal with those I love today, and my health.

Most of all I am thankful for my Savior who died on the cross for my sins and the sins of others. As, we approach this holiday season I hope that you will truly remember the reason for the season.

What is on your Thanksgiving menu for today?

Mine includes a yummy warm corn dip for a appetizer. I am in charge of appetizers this year and this is for sure an easy quick appetizer and favorite.

Recipe
1 can cream corn
1 can corn not drained
1 jiffy corn muffin box
1 stick of butter
1 8 oz sour cream
2 eggs

Bake at 350 for 35 minutes

For lunch we will be having turkey and ham. My mom got up early and the turkey is already cooking in the oven.

We also will have ham as our meat for today. Veggie wise we have sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and squash. We always have a relish tray with okra and olives and of course cranberry sauce. My family loves the cranberry sauce out of a can. :-)

My aunt is in charge of desserts and she will be sure not to disappoint. We have 4 pies this year....pumpkin, pecan, apple and a cheesecake. She will also make her homemade whip cream which I love on top of my pie and also with my afternoon coffee.

It's time to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade!! Enjoy time with your family and loved ones today!

Happy Friday!! TGIF...I am so ready for the weekend although we are super busy with activities!!!

Today, I am linking up with Andrea, Erika and Narci for Friday Favorites.

This weekend I am excited because this evening we are going to an evening event for Boutique de Noel. Every year a wrapping paper company called Under Wraps comes and they have the best wrapping paper and little boxes for treats for neighbors, friends, etc. Some of my favorite stores will be there and I am looking forward to seeing what they have to offer.
Saturday evening, we have the grand opening of Walkon's. My husband does there IT work so we have to be there in case something happens and the internet, etc. goes down. We got invited to the VIP soft opening event. Walkon's is a sports bar however, they have good food. This particular location has 87 TVS...crazy!!! One of the big owners and investors is Drew Bree's who plays for the New Orleans SAINTS!!!
I found my Christmas in the Sky dress yesterday and am so HAPPY!!!! I cannot wait to show you pictures from the event.

I friend recently had a Matilda Jane show....while I don't have little ones YET, they do have some cute pants and tops/dresses for adults. I ordered some blank pants with a ruffle at the bottom and OMG they feel amazing and I am in love with them.

I am looking forward to going home this Wednesday to celebrate THANKSGIVING! I have so much to be thankful for this year. :-)

I feel like the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas just flies by. I want to take the time this year to be THANKFUL and really remember the reason for the season. :-)

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I'm making my list and checking it TWICE! What list you ask...well I am the girl that runs on TO-DO lists. I make a list for everything. I make a list for cleaning house, grocery store, errands I need to run, etc. God Bless me when I have children.

This weekend is super busy and I know the holiday season is going to get even more busy after this weekend.

Friday evening, we have an event for Le Boutique de Noel. I consider this event to truly kick off the holiday season and is something I look forward to going to each year. This year the theme is the great outdoors. It is similar to a Jr. League Christmas show if you have those in your area. There are lots of vendors selling items ranging from clothes and jewelry, to holiday items and things for you home.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING!!!

I only have 2 people on my list left to buy for!!! Thankfully I knocked out most of my shopping early this year. When I am home for Thanksgiving I plan to get these last few items.

CHRISTMAS IN THE SKY

I am hoping to find a dress next weekend when we go to Dallas. I have tried on several very pretty things but I haven't found the perfect dress yet.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

I LOVE to drive around and look at Christmas lights. Give me some hot cocca, my pajamas and Christmas music and I am one happy girl. As a child I remember driving around and looking at them on Christmas Eve after we opened presents at my grandparents and went to church. We don't personally put outside lights on our house but may in the future.

NEIGHBORS, FRIENDS, CO-WORKERS

I need to make/order/purchase gifts for these people on my list. In years past, I have baked cookies and various other things. When we lived in our old neighborhood all of our neighbors would drop little presents on our front porch. These ranged from soaps, to food, to tea towels and the link. What gift do you like to give to neighbors/co-workers, etc.?

CHRISTMAS CARDS

I am making my Christmas card list and checking it twice. I plan to order my Christmas cards the week of Thanksgiving and have them in the mail the first week of December. :-)

CHRISTMAS MOVIES

During December, my TV is pretty much turned to ABC family every night watching a Christmas movie. I also love all the Hallmark holiday movies. I love the Grinch, Elf, Miracle on 34th Street, and probably my favorite A CHRISTMAS STORY. I love that they play this movie on repeat Christmas Eve. At some point during that day we all sit as a family and watch bits and pieces of it.

DECORATING

My tree and all my Christmas decorations will not go up until after Thanksgiving!!! I typically decorate the Sunday after Thanksgiving. I like to enjoy my Fall decorations as long as I can. However, I have to say my real pumpkins are starting to look a little weak. :-(

THINGS I WOULD LIKE TO DO.....

I would love to go to the Gaylord in Dallas on year and see ICE. I have heard it is simply amazing and would love to go one year.

Christmas Devotional...I am looking this year for a Christmas devotional book. I have been going through Jesus Calling and love it.

Ice Skating...during the holidays. Years ago (middle school) I used to ice skate weekly. I even took lessons at one point. In my home town there used to be a hockey team and after the games you could stay and ice skate. I would love to go either to Dallas and skate at the Galleria or go skate after one of the Mudbugs games (our local hockey team.)
