HELLO HELLO HELLO HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!

Today, I am linking up with Erika, Andrea and Narci for Friday Favorites. I haven't done Friday Favorites in a while so today I have a fun list of favorites for you!

Last night, the hubby and I went to AUSTIN, TX to look for a couch. We moved into our house last March and bought a couch from West Elm that sadly didn't work. :-(

The sizing was wrong and we didn't really love the color once we got it into the space.

After many months of hard work and savings we went to CB2 and found a couch that I think is going to look great in the new space! All the praise hands!!

source: CB2 website
https://www.cb2.com/ditto-ii-grey-sectional-sofa/s540667

We enjoyed dinner at North and had the roasted cauliflower OMG. It had an egg, asparagus and then roasted cauliflower soooo yummy! We shared an entrée and dessert also.

I recently have seen several bloggers I follow (Sheaffer and Honey Were Home) talk about Colleen Rothschild products! I was curious so I went ahead and ordered two products and am loving them so far!

Target just came out with a new brand OPAL HOUSE and I am loving all the bright fun colors!!! I love to have seasonal plates out on my table. I think it adds some fun and then I can use them when we have friends over for desserts or dinner also.

You can't beat the 1.99 price tag either and to me they look very Anthropologie like! I have some bowls from Anthropologie that I love!!!

I also got some fun napkins for 3.00 each. I just think these are super cute and fun for the Spring and Summer months ahead. Think BBQs, Cinco de Mayo, 4th of July etc.

In today's busy day to day hustle and bustle we can pick up what we need just about anywhere. From the local grocery store, pharmacy or even having something shipped to you via AMAZON. Shopping has gotten much easier and especially when it comes to laundry detergents. However, there are so many brands and now the ever popular pods.

All of these, whether liquid, powder or pods promise to make your laundry clean and smelling fresh. We once were limited to only boxes of powdered detergent now we find powder, liquid and single dose pods on the shelves.

So which type should you choose and why?

Liquid PROS and CONS

Laundry detergent first started being sold in stores in the 1950s and was sold as a powder based detergent to wash your clothes. Powder is easy to use, works well in washers, and comes in a variety of different scents.

PROS

1) Great for stain pre-treaters or spot cleaning (grass, condiments, drinks, etc.)
2) Effective on getting out oil and grease
3) Least expensive

CONS

1) Measurement lines are hard to read therefore leaving you as the consumer using too much or too little. If you use to much a residue can build up on your clothing.
2) Some consumers of the bottles are not recyclable so therefore lots of trash in our landfills.
3) Water is main ingredient in liquid detergent which is why pricing can add up you are paying for the plastic bottle and the water in it.

Pods PROS and CONS

Convenience is the number one reason for using pods. The pods were first trademarked by TIDE however, now there are a variety of brands. They are the fastest growing laundry product on the market today.

PROS

1) Lightweight, require not a lot of storage space
2) Simple to use
3) Premeasured dose of detergent
4) Less packaging

CONS

1) Most expensive for cost per load
2) Designed for the average size load and soil level (how dirty your clothes are)
3) Can't be used for pretreating stains
4) Easy to swallow
5) Outer packaging can't be recycled

POWDER PROS and CONS

Powdered detergent has been around a long time!!! It is the least expensive laundry product on the market today, however today we find it on the shelves less and less.

Retailers play a part in not stocking as much powder detergent because it takes up SPACE! The cardboard can be recycled but it cost a ton to ship and manufacture.

PROS

1) Best bang for your buck per load
2) Can be recycled

CONS

1) Large, heavy box hard to store and carry
2) Not good for use on cold cycle as it doesn't dissolve well and can leave stains
3) Pretreating stains hard because first have to make paste by mixing detergent and water

OMG all I have to say is I am still loving this workout! I gained a pound this week however, I know I will get it back off and the SCALE does not determine your SELF-WORTH.

I am feeling healthier, am eating better and getting in resistance and walking 6 days a week.

For week 3 of BBG here is what my schedule looked like. I took 3 rest days this particular week and didn't do one resistance workout. I train with a trainer also so I am getting in resistance and strength training on top of BBG.

Monday- LISS 35 minutes of walking, trainer

I walk in two particular places my parents neighborhood and also at a local Lions Club Park. I like to switch it up. I also am incorporating some running into this workouts as I am training for another half marathon in December.

Tuesday- Legs

Wednesday- Rest Day

Thursday- LISS and trainer

Friday and Saturday- rest

Sunday- Abs and Arms and LISS

Let, me just say there is so much SWEAT when doing these workouts! A fellow blogger I follow just finished up the last week and started over and was sweating like crazy again on Week 1!

This program works...you may not see results super quick but I feel like if I am sweating then I am doing good!!

Follow me on Instagram for stories and more of these workouts!

This week I also wanted to talk SPORTS bras...I am funky in that I want to rip one off the minute I am done working out. I have never truly been comfortable in a Sports Bra the straps hurt. I tend to get horrible neck/back pain if I wear one all day long.

I went on the search for some new sports bras this weekend and am happy to report I found 3 new ones.

I got 2 from Victoria Secret's and let me tell you that you can't beat the PRICE! One was 15 and the other 20.

I have heard incredible things about ATHLETIA which is a brand with Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic.

I walked in and the amazing sales lady was so helpful and knowledgable about her products.

Every particular bra I tried on in the store fit well but I went home with this particular version which is just sold ONLINE. They happened to have one that was returned in my size.

She suggested I get one that had adjustable straps like a regular bra also!! UH hello GAME CHANGER!!

Welcome to another week of Laundry Talk Tuesday...I saw these adorable printable tags on the Better Homes and Garden website this week and it inspired me!

We all get stains whether it be your favorite drink (coffee/tea/wine), lipstick, chocolate, grass or just plain the good ole stains of everyday living and being outside. Everyone sweats and sometimes our shirts can choose those pesky perspiration stains.

I think these laundry tags would be adorable to give a newly wed or someone getting their first house! Grab a basket and fill it with towels, these tags and maybe some detergent and you have the perfect gift plus it is useful!

Ink

When to treat....ASAP
Pretreat with stain remover (Shout, Resolve, etc.) and wash as you normally would. If the stain remains place it on several sheets on clean paper towels and apply rubbing alcohol. If you dry the stain will be set.

Paint

When to treat....water based-warm water as quickly as possible if paint is oil based-ASAP
If the paint is water based you want to try to wash in warm water while the paint is still wet. If the paint is oil based looked for paint thinner recommendations on the paint can.

Lipstick

When to treat...as some as your apply to apply a special treatment.
You do not want to use WATER! Rub mineral oil into the stain and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes. Then blot with a sponge mixed with ammonia and water.

Grass

When to treat...ASAP
Pretreat with stain removal and try to wash on the hottest setting possible for fabric!

Blood

When to treat...sponge with cold water as quickly as you can.
Soak in cold water then wash. If the stain is dried pretreat and soak in warm water.

Chocolate

When to treat...ASAP
Pretreat in warm water...if stain remains wash with bleach

Perspiration

When to treat...ASAP
Use ammonia if fresh...use white vinegar if old stain. You want to use the hottest setting that is safe for your clothes, you can also use color safe bleach.

Red Wine

When to treat...blot with clean, dry towel as quick as possible
Cover the stain with salt and stretch over a bowl. Pour boiling water onto the stain. If stain remains use white vinegar and flush with cold water then wash normally.

Sauces

When to treat...sponge with cold water right away.
Apply white vinegar and flush with cold water. Pretreat with a stain remover and wash normally.

Ideas from BHG.

It is best to treat stains as quickly as possible and not dry the item until the stain is removed completely from the fabric.

Well, Week 2 of BBG is in the books and let me just say I wasn't as dedicated this week which is A-OK. It is important when you start any workout program to know that some days you will be busy or just need a break. I was in Shreveport, LA this weekend to celebrate Easter and I choose to enjoy myself this week. I did get in all the LISS workouts and one of the resistance workouts.

Here was my workout schedule for Week 2

Monday- trainer and LISS
Tuesday- LISS
Wednesday- rest
Thursday- trainer and LISS
Friday- rest (flying day)
Saturday- 40 minute walk/run with the hubby
Sunday- resistance Legs

I think working out 5 of 7 days deserves an A plus!!!

I have found with the program that I enjoy walking/running and to incorporate this into days with my trainer. Wednesday is always a rest day because I have small group that evening.

I tend to find myself working out in the afternoon or around the 6ish time frame.

I have continued my eating habits of lots of protein (shrimp, chicken or small beef patties), veggies and healthy snacks.

I wanted to share some healthy snack options with you that are great for grab and go lifestyles. I packed my mix of nuts with my for my travel day so I wouldn't want to choose unhealthy snacks at the airport on my layover.

Apple slices with Peanut Butter

Mix of cashews and almonds

Annie's Organic Popcorn

I tend to find myself to be a snacker in general! I like to have either an apple or nuts after lunch time before dinner and then at night grab a bowl of popcorn! I like Annie's and Skinny Pop. To me the Annie's has a little more flavor but both are good!

Weight Loss wise I started Week 2 at 121 and when I weighed on Friday I was at 118.4! WOOHOO

I do not let the number on the scale define me but I have been stuck around 120 for a while so I was happy to see the number move.

What matters more is how your clothes are fitting and how you feel! I find if I feel better I am more likely to stick to a workout routine.

Welcome to this weeks edition of Laundry Talk Tuesday....Today, I am talking about jean care. We all have that favorite pair of jeans that we love to wear! Whether they are blue, white or black we want our jeans to hold their color and look good for many washes.

Washing your Jeans

People ask me constantly the best way to wash their jeans and ways to keep them from stretching. Colored jeans can sometimes also stain other articles of clothing depending on the dye used when making them.

My best advice is to wash your jeans inside out, especially for your blue and dark colored jeans. Also I like to dry my jeans about 15-20 minutes and then hang them to dry.

Jeans can be hand-washed. If you choose to do this I suggest using a deep sink or a bathtub. Make sure to submerge the jeans fully, use about a cup of laundry detergent and then let them soak for about 15-30 minutes. You want to make sure you rinse them well to get out the majority of the water. When rinsing it is best to fill your tub or sink 2-3 times with clean water. DO NOT wring your jeans this will break down the fibers in them. You want to roll them from the bottom up and then press on them to get the excess water out. If you choose to hand wash your jeans lay them flat or hang dry them.

If you choose to wash your jeans in the washer here are some tried and true tips!!

Use only COLD water!

Washing them often will fade the colors. I suggest wearing jeans 2-3 times before washing. This also will cut back on them stretching.

With your first wash of a pair of jeans throw in 2 spoon-fulls of SALT this will help set the dye.

How to Keep Jeans from Fading

You want to make sure you set the dye in your jeans. Like I mentioned above you can do this by tossing salt into the wash.

Another way to accomplish this is to fill a sink with water, pour in one cup of white vinegar and 2 tablespoons of salt. Make sure to turn the jeans inside out and soak them this way for an hour. Make sure to wash the jeans on COLD!

Wash less often (wearing them 3-4 times)

Spot treat your stains...once you dry your jeans or any clothes for that matter stains are much harder to remove!
